This is the second draft that we have come up with for our final production. There are some aspects of the clip which I particularly enjoy such as the the merging of two clips onto one another such as the guitar layering over the clip of the artists performing. The things that do need improvement such as the lipsynching as it is not synched with the song breaking not giving it verisimilitude.
For our next shooting we are planning on re-shooting the diegetic introduction by changing the location to the record store presented in our first draft as this will create a more interesting narrative for the audience and include some aspect of romance into it as the first impression that the audience gets when listening to the song is that it has been composed from a romantic experience.
a little difficult to comment as I need to see more at this stage, but a key point we discussed was being flexible with the idea: it may be smarter to home in on the narrative of the struggling/wannabe musician rather than the actual lyrical theme of university. That includes the diegetic intro – shifted to a music shop? That leaves easy scope to incorporate an elliptical, ambiguous (enigma) romantic narrative: musical ambition getting in the way of that perhaps, and generally gives you lots of opportunities to think of and shoot simple vignettes – make sure we discuss this Tuesday (or Weds) before your gig shoot. Once that is shot, work on a simple, basic master cut of performance only and then you’ll be better able to think where the other content best fits.
ReplyDeleteMore care is needed on shoots: too much camera shake and stuttering pans, plus focus shift! No matter how simple the setup/scenario, ALWAYS bank a range of shots of the same content to give you options in editing
